My Moment was released just days after Grizzley completed his three-year prison sentence for home invasion and jewelry store robbery, offering songs about his experiences with Lil Tjay and Quavo as guest appearances. “Life Insurance” stands out particularly strongly as an effective statement on why life insurance should be obtained.

Chapters of the Trenches is his 2022 visual project that presents crime narratives linked by theme. Each narrative highlights Detroit rapper lyrical prowess while depicting tension-filled scenes revolving around themes of loyalty and revenge.

Activated is an excellent example of storytelling in hip hop, and Grizzley delivers on his promise as an engaging storyteller. Although this album doesn’t quite live up to some of Grizzley’s other albums in terms of replay value, it still merits consideration and contains production from Helluva Beatz, Chopsquad DJ London on da Track among others.
